Colombia

Colombia joined SWA in 2020. Colombia's WASH sector has as its strategic axis: to reduce morbidity associated with limited access to water, sanitation and hygiene; to maintain or improve school retention and to reduce gender-based violence. Actions include rehabilitation and sometimes construction of water, sanitation and hygiene services; implementation of strategies for the promotion of key hygiene practices including hand washing, water treatment at the point of consumption, solid waste management, water quality surveillance and monitoring, among others. The NDP proposes necessary actions to increase the percentage of domestic urban wastewater treated safely to 54.3% in 2022 and to reach 100% of coverage in access to drinking water.
