Perú


Peru joined SWA in 2017. The main objective of the government for the sector is to provide access to sanitation services to all inhabitants of urban areas in the year 2021 and achieve the universalization of these services in a sustainable way before the year 2030.

Commitments by the government

Plan short- and medium-term investments at the national, regional and local levels for drinking water, sewerage and wastewater treatment services by supplier type.
Reviewing progress
Develop a regional plan for sustainable and quality sanitation services to help close gaps in infrastructure. Ensure sector actors are synchronized and coordinated with service providers in urban and rural areas.

The National Sanitation Policy aims to guarantee access to sanitation services for all who live in urban areas by 2021 and achieve sustainable universal sanitation by 2030.
