Institutional Arrangements

This tool provides 50+ examples that document the implementation of the OECD Principles on Water Governance. The evolving practices provide lessons learnt at various levels (local, basin, national) as well as for policy frameworks, institutions and policy instruments, and could help with future implementation of the principles in interested cities, basins, regions and countries. It is aimed at policy makers, practitioners and other stakeholders wanting to learn from each other and aims to help them identify pitfalls to avoid when designing and implementing water policies.

This Guide presents an introduction to conceptualising and strengthening the enabling environment for faecal sludge management (FSM) services in low-income urban areas. It is based on WSUP’s experience working with Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to develop market-based solutions for on-site sanitation services in the cities of Dhaka and Chittagong (Bangladesh), Kisumu (Kenya) and Lusaka (Zambia).

This strategy brief focuses on ‘how to’ strengthen cross-sectoral approaches between health and its social, economic and environmental determinants in order to improve WASH. It was prepared for the Inter Ministerial Conference on “South-South Cooperation in Post ICDP and MDGs” held in Beijing in October, 2013.
