This report takes stock of the OECD Water Governance Principles’ use and evolving practices, and provides an indicator framework building on lessons learned from their implementation in different countries and contexts. It is aimed at interested cities, basins, regions and countries wanting to strengthen their water policies.

This tool provides 50+ examples that document the implementation of the OECD Principles on Water Governance. The evolving practices provide lessons learnt at various levels (local, basin, national) as well as for policy frameworks, institutions and policy instruments, and could help with future implementation of the principles in interested cities, basins, regions and countries. It is aimed at policy makers, practitioners and other stakeholders wanting to learn from each other and aims to help them identify pitfalls to avoid when designing and implementing water policies.

Water Funds are organizations that design and enhance financial and governance mechanisms which unite public, private and civil society stakeholders around a common goal to contribute to water security through nature-based solutions and sustainable watershed management. The Waterfunds Toolbox provides access to state-of-the-art knowledge on how to scope, design, and operate water funds. It was developed by Water Funds experts to help leaders succeed in developing Water Funds.

This UNICEF toolkit provides sanitation and hygiene sector professionals with the current approaches to sanitation monitoring, including guidance on how to use various monitoring instruments and the latest tools and resources. The focus is on rural sanitation.

TrackFin (Tracking Financing to WASH) is a methodology to identify and track financing to the WASH sector at the national or sub-national level in a consistent and comparable manner. The tool produces WASH accounts which can be used by governments for national benchmarking, cross-country comparisons and to provide an evidence base to better plan, finance, manage and monitor WASH services and systems.

WASH BAT has been designed as a sector tool for use by governments and development partners for WASH sector strengthening. It enables a systematic identification of factors (or “bottlenecks”) that prevent achievement of sustainable service delivery within national or subnational WASH targets and helps stakeholders to define activities aimed at removing the root causes of these bottlenecks.

This tool has been developed to provide facility staff or operating division staff the tools and guidance to perform an assessment of their facility’s water use and the impacts on the local or regional water supply.
